Shanghai Shipyard Co., Ltd, one of the top ship building and repairing bases under the China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC), with a long history tracing back to 145 year ago in year 1962. In May, 2005, the plant of Shanghai Shipyard Co., Ltd. located in Lujia Zui in Pudong was all moved to the north shore of the Chongming Island. A new shipbuilding and repairing base is set up there.
The main production areas of Shanghai Shipyard Co., Ltd. scatter at the west shore of HuangPu River and the northern Chongming Island at the mouth of Yangtze River, with an area over 1,800,000 square meters. The total quays extend around 2,784m.
